Portraits

For this project, I took photographs of my mom and my oldest brother just being themselves.

These photos were taken of my brother at his apartment.
I chose these because I think they perfectly display his
personality. He either takes everything seriously, or not at all.
Both of which are traits to have. These photos were taken all
with simple white backgrounds so that he would be the focus.
I later edited them into black and white, sepia,
cross process and cyanotype.

These photos were taken of my mom. The setting is a variety of
different places. One was taken outside, because my mom does like
to be outside among nature. A few more were taken inside, again on a
blank wall so that she would be the focus. I like the composition and
the lack of eye contact in the pictures. I tried to capture what it is is like
when she is happy. I later edited them into cross-process, sepia, cyanotype and
black and white.

Self Portraits

I took this photo of me simply being happy. I took it because of the simple background and composition.
I took this photo because it shows some mystery because the viewer has to guess what I might be looking at. And I like how it shows a simple reflection

I took this photo because of the light reflection in my eye
and the look of surprise on my face.
SABATTIER

This photos is the same as the black and white version,
but the Sabattier gives it another effect.

This photo shows about me that I like to laugh. Laughing is something that is important to me and it makes me smile.

I think that this picture shows what is important to me. The quote in the photo is one of my favorites and I wanted it to be displayed in the photograph more than anything else.

MULTIPLE EXPOSURES

This composite photo can show that I am a deep thinker, but I
also tend to hide from things.

I took this photo because of the way the light is reflecting in the mirror.
I added a layer of a textured pain on cement over it because I like the
contrast and effect.

This is a photograph that the viewer can interpret the story behind it however
they want and I like that. Also, I like this one because it is one
in which I am not smiling. In reality, not everything in life makes
us smile.
